So, I had a GREAT Thanksgiving. 12 people, two dogs, three turkeys, a smorgasbord of family side dishes(that included my fancy cranberry sauce in the shape of the can), half a dozen of mom’s pies, football, board games, and lots of laughter…we are SO very blessed….to say the least.
As we sat and ate, the conversation around the table was about how much had dramatically changed in our family from last year to this year.
Jason and Liz were with us for Thanksgiving this year.
Last year, Brian and Danielle were newly engaged. This year they are married and we were eating dinner in their new home.
Last year, I was introducing Wes as my new boyfriend to my family. This year we were talking about our upcoming wedding plans over dinner.
It is funny how we talk about the quickness of life changes but how those changes can feel SO LONG when you are in the process. Feels like a blink in time from last year to this year with 365 days in between.
Wes and I decided to do the early morning shopping thing on Friday. Actually, we were trying to be in the first 100 people at Chick-fil-A to receive a year’s supply of free meals…horrible for the waistline but would be great for the “newlywed food budget”…we showed up right at 4am only to be told that the coupons were given out well before 4am (which is NOT what their flyer indicated;)…So, very disappointed, but up and dressed at 4am, we decided to shop… We weren’t really looking for any of the door busters (especially after our chick-fil-A let down) so it wasn’t too bad, and we did actually end up with some good deals. When light finally came to the dark sky, we noticed snowflakes floating through the air. It just seemed to add a nice touch to the whole experience. Good memories...maybe a tradition started for Wes and I…
Later in the day, my whole family (Mom, Dad, Brad, Myself, Wes, Jason, Liz, Brian, and Danielle) loaded in the cars and drove for about an hour to a Christmas tree farm to go cut down Christmas trees. You just have to know my family and the sense of humor that surrounds each individual personality to really understand that trips like these turn into hilarious moments. LOTS of them. We usually are the entertainment for those around us too. And we were… AND, thanks to Dad’s new video camera, we got it all on tape to watch over and over and over and over and over again…which we will.

Sorry about the Chick-fil-a thing. That would have been TOO cool! Glad to hear that your thanksgiving was peaceful and enjoyable. God bless!
