4th of July Fireworks

We went downtown for the 4th of July Celebration this year. We got down there at 5pm and so we could claim our front row seats. Fireworkds don't usually start until 10pm...don't worry, we do this every year and have it down to an art. We have a multifamily picnic/potluck on the street corner, we play games, walk around downtown, watch all the "interesting" inhabitants of our wonderful city walk/drive by (the ice cream truck lady for Asheville is pretty scarey...I'm just saying...), and just enjoy each others company.
I do find it slightly ironic, however, that the city of Asheville chooses to shoot off their fireworks display celebrating our "independance" right over the prison to various songs talking about "freedom"...nothing like rubbing it in!
